Our people

Soaring Heights is committed to welcoming a broad array of citizens within two sectors to live not only as individuals, but as part of a community in which members care for and support each other.  One group consists of our community support professionals (i.e., police officers, sheriff deputies, firefighters, public school teachers, EMTs, paramedics and others) who need housing that is affordable and want to become part of an intentional inclusive community.

The other group consists of individuals with developmental disabilities, currently living with families or in institutional settings, who desire a higher level of independence with appropriate supportive services. We call this second group, our people.

Soaring Heights Communities will offer apartment living for an additional 40 – 60 residents.  Half of the Soaring Heights apartments are for individuals who work in professions that serve the public in the fields of public safety, health and/or education. Our goal is to lease at rates below the market to offer these service-driven professionals housing that is affordable. The other half of the available apartments are for adult residents with developmental disabilities, residing with the care needed by a service provider to live side by side in a community designed to be inclusive in every way.

A community center will be the center of the community for all residents of the Light House Village campus. The community center will serve as a place for the neighbors to develop resources and host events that will reach into the larger community of Rockdale County, breaching barriers and growing connectivity among all citizens.
